Day Trips Outside Ottawa
Small Town Quebec
Wakefield - About a 20 minute drive from Ottawa on the north-east corner of Gatineau Park. A charming little town located on the edge of the Gatineau River. Explore the many small shops, enjoy the local art, take a walk through a covered bridge, take in some live music and enjoy the lake views at the Black Sheep Pub (Mouton Noir) or enjoy the great food and views from the Le Hibou Restaurant. Another fun option is to take the steam train from Gatineau to Wakefield (although the stop time in Wakefield is typically only an hour).
Saint-Sauveur - It will probably take about two and a half hours to get there, but it is worth the drive. This small town is located in the beautiful rolling hills of the Laurentians Mountains and is less than an hour from Mont Tremblant ski resort. Saint-Sauveur is another great spot to aimlessly meander the streets exploring the numerous shops, galleries and restaurants. If you feel like splurging on top-notch meal try the 40° North Steakhouse & Bar. A nice stop en route St-Sauveur is Le Chateau Montebello. This high-end hotel is an impressive place to look around and has a well reputed restaurant. If you only stay a half hour parking is free...
Kingston
About a 2 hour drive from Ottawa, also accessible by train and bus. This historic city is home to the Royal Military College of Canada, Fort Henry, and Queens University. A fabulous place to wonder the streets, sit by the side of lake Ontario, shop, or take in some fantastic restaurants.
Montreal
A world-class city with amazing vibe and energy. Only 2 hours from Ottawa.
Small Town Ontario
Perth - Just under an hour from Ottawa. Charming. I think I have overused this word in this website, but it is such a great description of Perth. Shop, eat, and look at art in this quaint little town. Consider adding a trip to Smith Falls and Kemptville on your journey. The entire loop is approximately 200km.

We went swimming in Wakefield today and then stopped for a dinner at Le Hibou. Nachos were really good (no shortage of cheese!) and the red curry muscles were as good as ever.
Took a break at Les Saisons, coffee shop in Chelsea Quebec a few weeks ago. A funky little spot with good food and coffee.
Went to our first concert at the Black Sheep in Wakefield a week ago. A great venue that brings in great talent.
