Our Favourite Restaurants
- Chez Lucien – On Murray St. at Dalhousie. This is one of our favorite restaurants. The quaint atmosphere is nicely paired with great service. The burgers are legendary (they have vegetarian and salmon options as well as beef). If you like liver this is also your place. All of this can be nicely topped off with one of several options of Quebec micro-brew beers.
Map It! - The Highlander Pub – 115 Rideau st. This Scottish pub consistently serves good food at a reasonable price. The burgers and steaks are worth a try. If you like scotch, this place has an impressive selection. The patio is right in the heart of the Market and is a fantastic place to enjoy a pint on a warm afternoon.
Map It! - Vitoria Tratoria – 35 William st. Another one of our favorites. Italian cuisine set in a great ambiance. Great food and service with an award winning wine list. A definite destination for a really nice dinner. We have recommended this restaurant to dozens of guests and have yet to receive anything but positive feedback.
Map It! - Coconut Lagoon – 853 St-Laurent Blvd. If you like Indian cuisine this place is worth the drive. The southern style of food is fantastic. The lunch buffet is cheaper on the weekdays, but still well worth the extra dollars on the weekend. Try as I might, I have yet to achieve the goal of not over-eating when we go.
Map It! - Suisha Gardens - 208 Slater St. . Our favorite Sushi in Ottawa. It is expensive, but fresh and oh soooo good.
Map It! - Milagro Grill – 357 Richmond Rd. We like to call it high end Mexican cuisine. Everything on the menu is really good. Service, ambiance and price conspire to make this one of the best value restaurants in town.
Map It! - 107 Fourth Avenue Wine Bar – This Glebe wine bar is a funky little place with an outstanding wine list and exquisite appy selection. One of our favorites.
Map It! - Fraser Café – 7 Springfield Rd. Brunch is amazing. Service is great. The atmosphere is funky. We haven’t tried lunch or supper yet, but I fully expect it to meet the high standards we seen with ever visit.

You should try Genji Sushi on Lisgar/Laurier... they have some very unique rolls and the atmosphere is better than the average Ottawa Sushi restaurant. It's always busy...
Thanks for the Genji recommendation Liz! We went there for dinner on New Years Eve and had a fantastic feast. A great place to go for the higher end of the sushi spectrum.
Fourth Ave Wine Bar continues to deliver great food and drink in perhaps Ottawa's hippest venue. We had a few glasses of the Kenwood pinot noir, the charcuterie and cheese plate, as well as some bacon wrapped figs. Really enjoyed it all!
Ate at the Manx Pub last night. We have been trying for quite a while, but it is always full (usually a good sign!) We were not disappointed. We shared the hummus plate and the lamb wrap. Both were very good. Glad to hear this place lives up to its rep!
Lunch at Coconut Lagoon. Excellent as Always! I particularly enjoyed the chickpeas. Not sure what the sauce was, but it had a bit of red curry, coconut milk goodness going on.
Dinner for three at Vitoria Tratoria the other night. Outstanding as always. Two of us had the alla gorgonzola pasta and one had the pizza special. The pizza was very good, but the pasta was amazing.
Mystiko for dinner last week was fantastic. This is one of the best value restaurants in Ottawa! The cheese flambe was my favorite.
Not quite sure if it is a favorite yet, but the new Mill St Brew Pub has been impressive so far. 4 of us ate different things, and all were very well prepared. Great atmosphere, service, and even parking. Check it out!
